What I do before I even begin to pack for vacation.
In about two weeks I will be heading to Tenneessee for an eight day vacation. I will be staying in a cabin with family and my dogs. I am so thrilled to get away after a crazy year of college. With vacation there is always a ton of preparation. Here I will be organizing my to - do list and what I will do before I leave for vacation.
Departure date is May 28th.
Research, Research, Research!
Before heading somewhere I've never been, I like to google the location and plan what to do while there. Luckily, my parents have been to this part of Tennessee multiple times so they were kind of my go-to research source. I also found some awesome ideas on Pinterest and Google Maps.
Make a Vacation to-do list
No one likes doing work on vacation but, unfortunately I'm currently in summer classes and need to stay on top of school work. To do this, I have created a list of things to do when I have some downtime during vacation. I plan to put this list either on my dresser or mirror in the cabin to assure I stay on top of things. My list include things such as;
Email professors
Text friend for notes for the classes I'm missing
Check in with co - workers about work
Pay any bills that are due via online
Make a Playlist
Something I plan to do a lot during vacation is a lot of reading and a lot of listening to music. This includes listening to music in the car, during workouts, during hikes and also while relaxing at the cabin. I figured I am going to need a pretty long playlist. About a month before vacation I created a playlist and any songs I enjoy or want on the playlist that will fit the Tenneesse/relaxation vibe. I have been adding to the playlist for the past few weeks. I highly suggest starting your playlist as soon as possible to build on it over time. If you listen to music as much as me, its going to be a decently long playlist.
Check out my playlist called "whiskey in tennessee" on my Spotify.
Clean Anything and Everything!
Something I find really annoying is coming home from an awesome vacation to a messy home or car. Preping for vacation is a great excuse to do some "spring" cleaning. Not only do I plan to clean my apartment and car out a few days before I leave but I also have been doing some deep cleaning. So far this has included;
Clean out my closet and donating clothes
Clean out all of my school work folders and book bag
Clean out my dressers and IKEA organizers in my room.
Clean out and wash my car
Do laundry and put fresh sheets on bed
This is something I feel I'm going to thank myself later for. Also I feel having a clean and organized space makes packing for vacation so much easier as well.
